Heating circuit

A heating circuit is the closed loop through which heated water (or another heat transfer medium) flows to deliver warmth from a central source, such as a boiler or heat pump, to radiators, underfloor heating, or other emitters. It consists of a flow line that carries hot water out to the emitters and a return line that brings cooled water back to the heat generator for reheating.
Each circuit can be controlled separately, allowing for tailored comfort in different zones or rooms. Modern systems often include multiple heating circuits—for example, one for underfloor heating at lower temperatures and another for radiators at higher temperatures. Components such as pumps, valves, and controllers regulate flow, ensuring efficient operation and consistent comfort.
Well-designed heating circuits balance heat distribution, optimize return temperatures, and prevent energy waste. Faulty or unbalanced circuits, by contrast, can lead to uneven heating, higher energy costs, and reduced system performance.
