Seasonal performance factor
The seasonal performance factor, alongside the efficiency factor, is a key metric for assessing and comparing the energetic efficiency of heat pumps. It represents the ratio of useful heat delivered by the system to the energy supplied over a defined period - typically a year. In other words, it compares the heat output in kilowatt-hours (kWh) to the electrical energy consumed in kWh. Unlike the performance factor, which provides a snapshot, the seasonal performance factor evaluates the system’s performance over an extended period, making it the most meaningful indicator for assessing long-term energy efficiency.
