Vaillant SafeGuard patentUnparalleled flexibility in indoor positioning.

The R290 revolution for indoors.

Vaillant’s innovative and patented SafeGuard technology provides unparalleled freedom when installing a ground source heat pump with R290 refrigerant indoors. Unlike conventional systems, our full geoTHERM exclusive range in all output sizes offers maximum flexibility during the planning phase of new builds, eliminating the need for major restrictions or additional safety measures. Thanks to our patented safety concept, complex installation components such as additional ventilation with extra pipes between the indoor heat pump and exterior walls are not required. Without these limitations, you can conveniently place the heat pump in cellars, utility rooms, or even living areas—offering a significant advantage over comparable systems.

When your existing ground-source heat pump reaches the end of its lifetime, it’s important to consider that new systems must utilize refrigerants with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP), such as R290. The geoCOMPACT exclusive with the natural refrigerant R290 and our patented SafeGuard technology offers a unique solution for replacing installed ground-source heat pumps with major advantages over comparable systems. Other indoor R290 systems often require complex safety measures, such as additional pipes leading to exterior walls and strict safety zones. This can lead to high costs and significant modifications to the building. In contrast, Vaillant’s approach allows the geoCOMPACT exclusive to be installed easily in the same location as your previous system, without extra ventilation, ignition-free zones, or costly structural changes. Even the existing electricity connections of 400 V can be reused. Additionally, our intelligent source management system prevents the existing borehole from freezing, enabling you to continue using your current borehole without issue. This innovative solution simplifies the replacement process for a state-of-the-art home for years to come.

The geoCOMPACT exclusive keeps your running costs to a minimum. Compared to air-to-water heat pumps (often also rated ErP A+++), the geoCOMPACT exclusive ground-source heat pump is even more efficient in operation. It draws energy from the ground, where temperatures remain constant at around 10 °C, even in winter. This allows the heat pump to deliver reliable, energy-efficient heating at sub-zero outdoor temperatures. The 5 kW geoCOMPACT exclusive achieves an energy efficiency rating of 216% according to ETAs at flow temperatures of 35 °C. The modulating compressor can adapt the power output efficiently to lower demands. For example, the heat pumps can reduce its power output up to 80%, if the heat demand is low and to avoid unneccessary short cycling.

The intelligent electronic platform iQconnect takes heating to a whole new level. Recognized with the prestigious iF Design Award, iQconnect combines innovative design with advanced functionality to deliver an unparalleled user experience.
Starting with simplified installation thanks to pre-integrated components such as the gateway and system controller. The commissioning assistant and large display ensure that the best settings for optimum heat pump operation are found – and kept in view.
Over-the-air updates help the system stay up to date with optimisations and new features. Integrated connectivity is essential for using the myVaillant app to remotely control the system.
Additional remote services for external monitoring and accessibility keep the heating system efficient and reliable all year round. iQconnect also allows the heat pump to be integrated into an energy management system, for example to use self-generated photovoltaic electricity.
