Buffer Cylinders

Vaillant buffer cylinders in storage room

Buffer cylinders store the thermal energy produced by heat generators as hot water. Basically, the buffer storage tank is an insulated container that accumulates heated water from the various heat sources and makes it available to the consumers.

When using renewable energies, biomass or pellet heating systems, the heat is otherwise often difficult to regulate. With a buffer cylinders, these heating systems operate consistently within their optimal output range, their efficiency is enhanced and their service life is extended due to the lack of frequently switching on and off. A buffer cylinders can also be used to couple multiple heat generators together, such as when renewable energy is used as a supplementary heat source. It is also available as a space-saving combined storage tank, which stores drinking water in separate circuits in addition to the heating water.
