Screw conveyor

Mechanical screw conveyors transport bulk materials, usually wood pellets, from the storage area to the boiler. Unlike pneumatic suction systems, which are the alternative, the quieter and cheaper screw conveyors are designed for shorter distances of up to six metres, height differences of up to 30 degrees and minimum bending.
The complete system of bulk material transport is called the screw conveyor. It consists of a screw housing, a screw conveyor with screw thread and screw shaft, a motor with shaft coupling or chain drive as well as an inlet and outlet. The screw conveyor transports wood pellets by means of its constantly rotating screw shaft in a pipe from the screw housing, in which the pellets are stored, to the combustion chamber of the boiler of the heating system. In order for the pellets to slide down automatically, it must have a sloping floor.
Pellet heating systems and screw conveyors are government subsidised as renewable energy. The very low power consumption of the screw conveyor can usually be completely covered by the combination with a photovoltaic system.
