Solar power

Solar power is the common term for electricity generated by photovoltaic systems. The natural energy of the sun is used as an energy source and converted into electricity by photovoltaic technology.

Systems for generating solar power consist of a network of photovoltaic modules, which in turn consist of interconnected solar cells. Solar cells are made of silicon. The positively and negatively charged atoms in the upper layer react to solar radiation and migrate between the many layers within the solar cells. An inverter within the photovoltaic system converts the direct current generated into alternating current, that is, into household electricity.

So that the solar electricity generated does not have to be consumed immediately or fed into the public grid when needed, photovoltaic systems usually have a solar power storage tank. When used in combination with other energy generators such as heat pumps, solar thermal energy or other heating systems that require electricity for their operation, solar power systems can ensure a high degree of independence from power providers.
