What does F28 mean on a Vaillant boiler?
In short, F28 means your boiler had an ignition error.
The official explanation for a F28 fault is "The flame signal was not detected during the ignition phase."
This can be caused by different issues such as easy-to-fix issues like a frozen condensate pipe but also by others where you'll need expert support.
Causes for the f28 fault code
Boilers have to expel condensate water created as part of the combustion process. The condensate pipe often terminates outside, leaving it vulnerable to freezing in cold weather.
For example, ignition failure, ignition transformer not connected, defective transformer not connected.
Air in the gas supply, gas connection pressure too low, gas flow pressure too low, gas valve assembly defective, fault in the gas route caused by recirculation or flue gas blockage.
Burner defective, interruption in the wiring harness, PCB defective.
Fixing of F28 Fault code should be left to an expert.
Never attempt to repair a fault in your heating appliance yourself. This is dangerous and must be done by a qualified technician.
