The outdoor unit handles the main work, while only a compact indoor unit and connections are needed inside – still far more space-efficient than traditional indoor-only systems.

With our aroTHERM plus, only 28 dB(A)* is possible in sound-reduced night mode. This makes our heat pumps easily usable in densely built row house settlements.

Generally outdoor heat pumps come in two main types: monoblock and split systems.
Monoblock units house all components in a single outdoor unit for simple installation and little maintenance.
Split systems divide components between an outdoor and indoor unit, offering greater installation flexibility but requiring more complex setup.
Both designs deliver similar efficiency and work well for new construction or renovation projects.

The entire heat pump unit can be flexibly installed directly on the building or in the surrounding outdoor area. The installation requires a resilient, durable, horizontal heat pump base. The ambient air is drawn in and immediately discharged to the outside. In this way, the heating water is also treated outside the building and passed on to the internal heat storage and heat distribution system through insulated pipes.

On every property, there is a suitable location for a heat pump. The right placement is decisive for efficiency, quiet operation, and the longevity of the heat pump. The following points show what makes an ideal installation location and what requirements exist for outdoor installation of heat pumps.
  • Ground conditions.A firm, level surface such as a concrete foundation or stable floor slab is crucial. This keeps the heat pump standing securely without sinking over time.
  • Wind-protected area.A location that is not in the main wind direction avoids cool exhaust air getting back into the intake opening. This maintains efficiency and keeps electricity costs manageable.
  • Orientation toward the street.When the exhaust direction is oriented toward the street, possible operating noises don't disturb. Additionally, no walkway should be within about three meters to avoid icy surfaces from cool exhaust air.
  • Free access.The location should be chosen so that specialists can reach the heat pump easily at any time. This facilitates maintenance work and ensures reliable operation.
